​House of Estila is delighted to present Colour Unbound, a solo exhibition by Michelle Baharier

A vibrant exploration of landscape, cityscape and the human figure, Colour Unbound brings together bold colour, expressive forms, and energetic compositions. The exhibition invites viewers to experience familiar subjects through a contemporary lens, where colour becomes a language of emotion, movement, and place.

Michelle Baharier is an interdisciplinary neurodivergent artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, photographic architectural landscapes, performance, and video.

Baharier's work often captures the intersection where the built environment meets London's green spaces, and entertainment draws from diverse neighborhoods across the capital. If you are exploring the types of vibrant London environments that influence this style of urban landscape and public portraiture, these notable open spaces highlight different textures of city life

Baharier uses colour as an emotional and kinetic language to challenge societal assumptions. Baharier is a graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art and famously founded CoolTan Arts, a breakthrough arts and mental health charity. Her style uniquely blends several key artistic movements:

• Expressionism & Surrealism: Evoking vivid internal states, nightmares, changing moods, and ecstatic narratives rather than straightforward physical reality.
• Social Activism: Actively countering historical absence by creating portraits of disabled activists, ensuring their stories are preserved within major public institutions like the London Transport Museum Collection.
• Multidisciplinary Practice: Merging standard acrylic painting and drawing with photographic architectural landscapes, performance art, and digital phone collages.
