One of my featured paintings is Monsters Under the Bed, created during my year-long collaboration with Vermillion.
As I researched the idea of "monsters", I discovered how often hidden struggles—anxiety, sensory overload, insomnia and executive dysfunction—are described as the monsters many neurodivergent people quietly live with every day.
For me, the painting is deeply personal.
As a child I had insomnia, and I still do today. Only much later did I discover that sleep difficulties can be linked with dyslexia. Learning more about myself made me realise how many of us spend years wondering why we feel different.
Perhaps we all have our own monsters under the bed

I'm delighted to have six pieces in the exhibition.
The work grew from a year-long Mail Art exchange between Vermillion and me. We posted artworks across the Atlantic, creating an ongoing conversation through paint, postcards and drawings.
One of the paintings, What Makes Your World Go Around?, places a humble washing machine centre stage.
It explores domestic life, invisible labour and the way ordinary routines quietly shape us. The spinning drum becomes a metaphor for anxious thoughts, while the washing machine itself becomes the unlikely engine that keeps life moving forward.
During our collaboration, Vermillion experienced a devastating house fire. Although our lives looked very different, we were both thinking about disruption, resilience and rebuilding. Those shared themes naturally found their way into our work.
Also included are Virginia, a painting of a woman giving birth to flowers, and Escape 40, a drawing exploring the emotional journey of leaving isolation behind.
